I Love My Rain Barrels!!

rain barrel blog

In Southern California we always have a water shortage. Last year I decided to install rain barrels. Rain barrels hook up to your gutter and capture the rain. Once I started looking I was so happy to find some Mexican ones that go with my house. This style had an added bonus of being able to plant on top. These succulents have really grown since this summer! I found these rain barrels on Hayneedle.

Mamey Fruit….

Mamay Mamey Fruit

When I was in Mexico in February, I was so excited to find Mamey. The fruits are always so beautifully display on fruit carts. Mamey has a sweet pleasant taste. Some pumpkin flavor, some vanilla flavor. I like it raw, but they do sell a lot of mamey ice cream which is yummy. It only grows in tropical climates. Not sure if the tree would grow In Southern California!
